Short Circuit in Fountain Leads to Dog’s Death

PALMETTO BAY, FLORIDA – Palmetto Bay’s Dog Park, also known as Perrine Wayside Park, reopened after being closed for most of the month of September.

The 3-acre park was shutdown on September 1st when Victor Garcia’s 6-month old Labrador Retriever named Ruger, jumped into the park’s manmade lake and was electrocuted.

Park officials said at the time of the incident that the fountain in the center of the lake was turned off. However, an inspection found there was a short in the fountain and there was an issue with an electrical box, Palmetto Bay spokesman Bill Kress told CBS4’s Natalia Zea. Officials are still awaiting the final investigative report on the incident.
