UT Man Receives Life Threating Injuries at American Express Office

TAYLORSVILLE, UT –  A worker received life-threatening injuries Friday from being shocked at the American Express offices in Taylorsville.

About 8:30 p.m., the worker was in an electrical room. Unified Fire Authority Capt. Brad Taylor said investigators were still trying to determine what happened, but somehow the 34-year-old man was jolted by the wiring. Other workers shut off the power and applied a defibrillator to the injured man, Taylor said. When medics arrived, the man had no discernible pulse and was barely breathing, Taylor said.

The man had a pulse by the time an ambulance delivered him to Intermountain Medical Center. Taylor said he did not know if the man would survive.
