Man Electrocuted by Fence in Sri Lanka

SRI LANKA – A father of two who tried to get manioc from a garden of a house in the Gadolkella area in Padawiya was electrocuted by an electric fence.

The 47-year-old succumbed to his injuries before being admitted to the Padawiya Hospital according to the residents in the area.

Police said that the owner of the house had put up an electric fence to protect his plantations and his garden from wild animals, especially from wild boars. The magisterial inquiry was conducted by the Kebithigollewa Magistrate and the body was sent to the Padawiya Hospital to carry out the post mortem examination.

The suspect was taken into custody and was produced before the Kebithigollewa Magistrate and was remanded.

Man Working on Fish Pond Fatally Electrocuted

Manapla town, Negros Occidental, Philippines – A man working in a fishpond was electrocuted at about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday in Manapla town, Negros Occidental, the police said yesterday.

The fatality was identified as Allin Bep, 26, of Brgy. Santa Theresa in Manapla by case investigator Police Officer 2 Ray BaƱares.

Investigation showed that Bep, who was working in the fishpond in Brgy. Santa Theresa, failed to notice the live wire on the ground and stepped on it.

Bep died on the spot from the burns he sustained, police records showed.

Reports said the switch of the live wire attached to the perimeter fence of the fishpond had not been turned off. The police said many have failed to see the wire as it was concealed by shrubs.
